Privacy Policy

The short version

• FableFox uses a short recording of a parent's voice and the child's pet name to make bedtime stories for that family only.
• Only the person whose voice it is can agree to this, and nothing is recorded until they do.
• You can delete your voice and every story at any time from the app.
• No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we never sell or share your voice.

FableFox is a test version for a small group of families. We will update this policy before a public release.

What we collect, and why

• Your voice recording. You read two short lines on screen (about 6 to 20 seconds). Our voice server trims it to a sample of about 12 seconds and uses it to tell stories in your voice. A voice is personal data, so we treat it with the most care.
• Your child's pet name. The name you type, so the stories can call your child by it. Please use a pet name, not a full name.
• Your language. Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil or Malayalam, so we make the stories in it.
• The stories made for you. The audio files made in your voice.

We do not ask for your email address, phone number, location or contacts.

How your voice is used

The voice sample and the pet name are sent over an encrypted connection to our voice server, which runs an open-source voice model on a rented cloud GPU. The model copies your voice from the sample; it is not trained on it. The finished stories are downloaded to your phone once and then play offline.

Your voice is used only to make stories for your family. It is never shared with other users, never sold, and never used for advertising.

On the consent screen there is a second, optional choice: "Keep my recording to help improve FableFox". If you leave it off, your recording is used only for your stories. You can change it later.

What stays on your phone

Your stories, the pet name, your language and your consent choices are saved on your phone so stories play without the internet. Uninstalling the app removes them from the phone.

Keeping and deleting

We keep your voice sample and your stories on our voice server only so we can make your stories, until you delete them. To delete, open the menu on the stories screen and choose to delete your voice. This removes your voice and every story made from it from our server. You can also write to us and we will delete it for you.

Children

FableFox is used by parents for their children. The app is set up by a parent, and only a parent's voice is recorded. We do not record children and do not ask children for any information. The only detail about a child is the pet name a parent chooses to type. The app shows no ads.

Permissions

• Microphone: only on the recording screen, to record the two lines.
• Background audio: so a story keeps playing when the screen locks.

Services we use

Our voice server runs on Modal, a cloud GPU provider, which processes your voice sample and the pet name for us to make the stories and may run outside India. We do not use any other third parties for your data.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and similar laws, you can ask what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent means deleting your voice, after which we cannot make new stories in it.

Changes and contact

Before FableFox opens to the public, sign-in and payments will be added, and we will update this policy and tell you in the app before anything changes. Questions or requests: support@nxtduo.com. We reply within 30 days.
